Dedication: This slashfic is for Ewan McGregor. And for Dine.
Wherein there's a window, a newspaper, and a whole new millennium.
Notice: I've been living on RPS. This story's just a snippet to
get my brain back in gear.
"Yep."
"Twooo...thowowowow...sssannnn...duh...onnnne."
"Yep."
"Two thousand one."
"Ray!"
"Two thousand one! I thought it was the big time when we hit the eighties! The nineties seemed like some point way, way off in the future. But here we are. Here we are. A new millennium."
"Here we are," Ray agreed absently, turning to the sports page.
"You ever thought about what it'd be like? You ever have ideas on what the world would be like when we got here? I thought there'd be people living on Mars and a McDonald's on the moon and flying cars or something."
"Yep."
"But we're here. And it's just the same. Nothing's different. Nothing's changed."
"Nothing's changed?"
Ray turned away from the window and looked at Ray.
Ray looked back at him.
"Yeah," Ray said. "I guess some things did change." He smiled.
Ray cleared his throat and rustled the paper. "McDonald's on the moon," he muttered.
Ray's smile broadened as
he looked over the city again.
