Wherein there's beer, baseball, and love.
Long fingers
sorted through the spikes of his hair.
He took a quick swig from
his beer bottle and watched Gransin strike out.
A gentle touch stroked his
scalp.
Long fly to right.
That little ear thing always
made him shiver.
Oh, come on, there was no
way Johnson was safe.
He knew Vecchio was looking
at him. Just looking. Looking and touching. For no good
reason.
That was okay.
Vecchio was getting soft
in his old age. Kept doing things like just looking and touching.
Kept getting that deep-down loving look in his eyes.
It wasn't really age.
It was ever since he'd gotten shot. He got shot, and Vecchio got
romantic.
Weird.
Not romantic. Appreciative.
Taking him in while Vecchio could, because he might die tomorrow or something.
Wasn't like he'd never been
shot before.
Just this time was worse.
Wasn't like he'd needed
all of those organs anyway.
He looked right, and Vecchio
stole his heart. He looked ahead, and Bauer stole second.
He took another quick swig
and turned off the TV.
