"No One" Prologue:
But let me tell you now, there are prices for fame.
-"Larger Than Life"

Justin Jeffre awoke in an uncomfortable position.  He'd fallen asleep cramped in one of the bus seats again.  Yawning and rubbing a crink from his neck, he sat up more to look for the others.  He saw Nick was on the sofa in the back, asleep.  Drew and Jeff were sleeping, too, curled up on bus seats.

Lately they'd been working out a schedule for who got to sleep on the sofa, which was more comfortable than the seats.  Their schedule was turning into a failure - - Drew always forfeited his turn, claiming that they needed the space to stretch out more than he did.  Whenever it was Jeff's turn, Nick ended up there instead.  Well, Justin's turn was tomorrow, and Justin wasn't giving up the sofa for anybody.

And the day after that, they weren't going to be in this stupid bus anymore!  They were getting an entire week off, a whole week, a long blissful week.  More blissful for his bandmates than for him, most likely, since they'd be getting laid nonstop.  Justin smiled.  The poor guys.  He wasn't sure whether it were worse for Drew, whose lovers were far away and out of touch, or for Nick and Jeff, who were together constantly but couldn't fit sex into their schedule.

Nick and Jeff had become Nick and Jeff Timmons-Lachey a month ago, three months after their engagement.  They'd fit their wedding into a rare free afternoon on the tour, flying in friends and family to Madrid for the ceremony.  *NSYNC had come, but the Backstreet Boys had been performing in Tokyo and couldn't make it.  The day, the ceremony, the entire experience had been beautiful, but Justin knew that Drew's happiness had been tempered by the lack of Nick Carter and Brian.

Nick Carter and Brian.  Drew couldn't be satisfied with one gorgeous young talented international star?

Finally, a month after the ceremony, the newlyweds were getting their honeymoon, thanks to some finagling and Universal Records' interest in publicity.  As it turned out, the situation was working something like it had last time: 98 Degrees was getting a vacation, so the Backstreet Boys had petitioned for one to allow Nick Carter and Brian the chance to see Drew again, and if the Backstreet Boys got a vacation then *NSYNC wanted one, too.  So when 98 Degrees detoured to Kendig for the week, they'd be joined by the other two groups.  Which meant that Justin would have someone to spend time with while his best friends spent the week in bed.

He didn't blame them.  Being in love and getting married and not having the time to enjoy the experience had to be terribly frustrating.  And Drew was trying to maintain a relationship with Nick Carter and Brian under the trying conditions of first falling in love with Nick, then not seeing Nick for six months, then seeing Nick again and falling in love with Brian in one crazy week, then not seeing them again for another four months.  If that relationship didn't find some stability, Drew would be heartbroken, and Justin didn't want to see that.

[Will Drew learn to be satisfied with one gorgeous young talented international star?  Will Nick and Jeff get to enjoy their honeymoon?  Will Justin find better sleeping conditions?  Tune in to "No One" Part One.]
