Rating: PG-13 for potty mouths
Pairing: Nick Carter/AJ McLean
Disclaimer: The young men who comprise the Backstreet Boys are their own people. The author has not met anyone here described, nor does the author mean to suggest that these people act this way in real life. This writing is a work of fiction. I make no money from this venture.
Dedication: Ewan, SG slashers, Becky, David. Whitney, too.
Wherein AJ talks, Nick talks, AJ talks...
Notice: Someone said that I've been neglecting my BSB slash. I guess crossover, multi-boy band slash doesn't count. So here's pure BSB, no Degrees or Syncers in sight. Did anyone read the "Complete Series?" Remember when AJ was checking out Nick on the bus? (Nick + leather = drool.) I've never slashed AJ and Nick. It's about time I did.
"What?"
"That! You! Out there! Don't give me that confused look, you know exactly what I'm talking about! You totally dissed me out there!"
"I did - - what are you talking about?!"
"Don't you ever get in my way again!" AJ stormed down the hallway.
"Fine! From now on I'll stay as far away from you as I can!" Nick shouted after him.
AJ flipped Nick off over his shoulder as he disappeared around the corner.
"Bastard!" Nick shouted,
and took off in the other direction.
"I didn't-"
"I'm out there giving the performance of my life and you-"
"The performance of your life? You were flat the whole time."
"I was flat? I was flat?! At least I remembered the fucking words!"
"I - I - I-"
"When's the last time we sang about - - it's 'I'm here with my confession.' We sing it every single night!"
"I didn't - - what are you talking about?!"
"Why the fuck do you do that?! Jesus Christ, Nick!"
"What?!"
"That! That! That innocent confused 'why are you persecuting me, I'm so cute and blond' act! It's an act, it's an act, you know exactly what I'm talking about! You always do that!"
"I'm not-"
"Stop it! Just stop it." AJ left.
"Bastard," Nick said.
"Thanks. Same to you."
"Thanks. You suck."
"Yeah."
"You sure?"
"Yeah. That was good."
"What?"
"That extra shimmy during 'Everybody.'"
"You like that?"
Nick almost smiled.
"Yeah."
"I know."
AJ blinked. "You know?"
"I know. I was flat."
"You're not going to-"
"No. I was flat. I was off the whole time."
"Oh."
"You looked good out there."
"Yeah?"
"That was good."
"You, too."
"You on a sugar rush or something?"
"Just happy."
"Why?"
"Why not?"
"You gonna be okay?"
"Yeah."
"Maybe we-"
"No, it's okay."
"Can I-?"
"Yeah. Thanks."
"Hunh."
"What?"
"Been a while."
"Yeah."
"AJ?"
"Yeah."
"I'm sorry."
"For what?"
"Being a jerk."
"Yeah. Me too."
"Yeah."
"You too. That was awesome. I've never seen a crowd pumped like that."
"It was all you. You were just wild."
"It felt great. I felt great. And I'm sweating like a pig."
"You always do."
"Thanks."
"Did you mean that yesterday? About being sorry."
"Absolutely. I was a huge jerk. You were right to hate me."
"Good. Because I did hate you."
"Not anymore?"
"Not anymore. I was a jerk, too. I'm sorry."
"Good." They shook hands.
"And I was stupid."
"When?"
"Letting it interfere with the show. We can't bring it onstage like that."
"You think the fans noticed anything?"
"I hope not. They deserve better no matter what."
"But we're good now."
"Are we good for good?"
"Yeah. We're good for
good."
"That was the best show ever!"
"And you! What was with that descant?"
"I was feeling it, man."
"That was awesome! Do it again."
"Again? Here?"
"Go ahead."
"I can't just do it. I need...you know...proper motivation."
"Oh. Is that right?"
"Yeah."
"You want me to motivate you?"
"You can try."
"Not in public, Nick."
"You want to come over later?"
"Over later where?"
"To my room."
"Oh, you're inviting me to your room now."
"It'll be just like old times."
"Maybe tomorrow."
"Whenever."
"What offer?"
"To come over to your room."
"Why? You want to?"
"I could."
"Stop by tonight?"
"Sure."
"We could talk or...something."
"We could."
"AJ?"
"What?"
"Good show."
